The July 27, 2023 MDE memo states that the CPR training is for Year One teachers.
These important trainings are now required to take place within the first year of a teacher’s employment for teachers who are employed in classroom teaching on or after August 1, 2023. Districts must provide department-approved first aid and CPR training to new teachers who do not already hold a valid CPR/First Aid completion card as part of the 15 days of professional development required by MCL 380.1526.
Dearborn Teacher University will provide first aid and CPR training to all new teachers to meet this requirement. More information coming soon!
