Mrs. Faraj Biography
Fatme Faraj serves as the Executive Director of Student Achievement for the Dearborn High School Feeder Track in Dearborn Public Schools, where she provides strategic leadership for student achievement, instructional improvement, and system-wide accountability. In this role, she oversees multiple schools and works closely with principals and district departments to align curriculum, assessment, professional learning, and school improvement efforts.
Faraj brings more than 30 years of experience in public education, all within Dearborn Public Schools. Her career spans roles as a classroom teacher, instructional coach, reading specialist, assistant principal, principal, and district administrator, providing her with deep knowledge of teaching, leadership, and system-level improvement.
She is widely recognized for her leadership in school transformation and instructional excellence. As principal of Maples Elementary School, she led a comprehensive turnaround that moved the school from the 12th percentile to above the 73th percentile in statewide rankings. This work demonstrated the power of strong instructional systems, collaborative leadership, and high expectations for students and staff.
At the district level, Faraj has played a central role in leading strategic planning, guiding Cognia accreditation, and strengthening continuous improvement systems across schools. She works closely with curriculum, assessment, and professional learning teams to ensure alignment of district initiatives and to support principals in improving teaching and learning.
Faraj has also led the district efforts to strengthen evidence-based instructional practices, including professional learning aligned with the science of learning and explicit instruction. Her leadership emphasizes strong Tier 1 instruction in an effective multi-tiered system of support, and a commitment to ensuring every student is prepared for success in college, career, and life.
Throughout her career, Faraj has been deeply committed to building leadership capacity among educators. She has supported the development of teachers and administrators through initiatives such as Dearborn Teacher University and aspiring administrator programs, helping to cultivate the next generation of instructional leaders.
A longtime member of the Dearborn community, Faraj believes that strong schools are built through partnerships among educators, families, and community organizations. Her leadership focuses on creating systems that support both academic success and student well-being while maintaining transparency and trust with the community.
Faraj holds a Bachelor’s degree in Education and Masters’ degrees in Educational Leadership and Bilingual Bicultural Education. Fatme continues to serve as a mentor and advocate for high-quality education for all students.
