School Improvement and the Dearborn Teacher University

Year One Professional Staff delve into the SIP Rubric and Digital Tools!

Last week, over 70 of our new professional staff received professional development on the district’s school improvement growth tool rubric and their role in the process. The Dearborn SIP Rubric’s nine indicators were discussed with an emphasis on how to integrate students use of digital tools in the classroom. Teachers were given the opportunity to share current practices from their classrooms and buildings. In addition, several video clips of students accessing technology were viewed with teachers practicing scoring the clips based on the district SIP rubric. Follow-up discussion after each clip allowed the teachers to reflect on the scoring and their justification for each rating.

As a reminder, be sure to register for our next Dearborn Teacher University PD on April 16, 2019 from 4:00-5:15 p.m. The topic will be Google Apps. Teachers are encouraged to bring a laptop or Chromebook to this interactive session if possible.
