School Improvement and the Dearborn Teacher University

Year One Professional Staff End the Year on a High Note!

During the past few weeks, all Year One Professional Staff culminated their first year with the Dearborn Public Schools by attending several Dearborn Teacher University workshops. In early May, close to 400 mentees and their mentors gathered together at ASC to reflect on the first year collaboration process and what areas they want to focus upon for their 2019-20 school year. In addition, time was spent on writing Professional Growth Goals from their My Learning Plan teacher evaluation for the next school year. Year end Dearborn Teacher University and MDE requirements were reviewed for all new staff members and their mentors. Anyone with additional questions should please contact our office.

Our final DTU Year One PD on Healthy Living and Community Partnerships took place this week as well. The district’s Coordinator for Affective Education, Ms. Danene Charles provided some insight on how the district supports our homeless student population, as well as resources for teachers to provide outreach to families. Additionally, Ms. Charles gave an overview of the district’s Healthy Living initiative and how to best help students in preventing substance abuse.

The Dearborn Teacher University wishes all of their members congratulations on completing their first year with the Dearborn Public Schools and we hope that you have a relaxing and enjoyable summer break!!
