Kids Club and preschool open houses set for April 14

Dearborn Public Schools Early Childhood Programs department is reorganizing the district’s paid preschool and childcare programs for next year and is now taking applications for the 2022-23 program.

Open houses for the childcare programs are scheduled for Thursday, April 14 from 4 to 6 p.m.  The events will give parents a chance to see the program they are interested in and ask the staff questions. The open houses will be held at DuVall Elementary (Door 10), Haigh Elementary (Door 5), Howard Elementary (Door 13), Howe Montessori (Door 15), Lindbergh Elementary (Door 4), Snow Elementary (Door 4), and Whitmore Bolles Elementary (Door 9).

For the public, the most notable change in the Early Childhood Programs is a streamlining of the different paid preschool programs offered by the district.  Before, different schools offered the programs on different days at different times, each with its own name.  Now, every Developmental Preschool will offer similar hours, and parents can better select what days they want their child to attend.  DuVall, Howe, Lindbergh, Long and Snow elementary schools and Cotter Early Childhood center will all offer paid preschool.  DuVall will only have class in the mornings, but every other location will offer preschool Monday through Friday. Parents can sign up for half days or full days at most sites, and Long and Snow will offer extended days where children can start earlier and/or end later than the usual 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. times.

The district will also continue to offer Kids Club to provide students before and after school childcare at several locations next year.  Kids Club will be offered at DuVall, Haigh, Howard, Howe, Lindbergh, Long, Snow and Whitmore Bolles. Students from Divine Child, Bryant Middle and STEM Middle schools can also attend the nearby Kids Club.
