{"id":4178,"date":"2017-09-06T16:32:26","date_gmt":"2017-09-06T20:32:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dearbornschools.org\/humanresourcesblog\/?p=4178"},"modified":"2017-09-06T16:32:26","modified_gmt":"2017-09-06T20:32:26","slug":"degree-lane-changes-extra-pay-stipend-schedule-other","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dearbornschools.org\/humanresourcesblog\/2017\/09\/06\/degree-lane-changes-extra-pay-stipend-schedule-other\/","title":{"rendered":"Degree Lane Changes &#038; Extra Pay Stipend Schedule &#038; Other"},"content":{"rendered":"<div><b style=\"color: #000000; font-family: georgia, serif; font-size: large;\">Degree Lane Changes\u00a0<\/b><\/div>\n<div>\n<div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: georgia, serif; font-size: large;\">Degree lane changes submitted to HR between March 2, 2017 by\u00a0<span class=\"aBn\" tabindex=\"0\" data-term=\"goog_1565483134\"><span class=\"aQJ\">October 1, 2017<\/span><\/span>\u00a0will be paid retroactively on\u00a0<span class=\"aBn\" tabindex=\"0\" data-term=\"goog_1565483135\"><span class=\"aQJ\">October 27, 2017<\/span><\/span>. \u00a0 Degree lane changes submitted to HR between\u00a0<span class=\"aBn\" tabindex=\"0\" data-term=\"goog_1565483136\"><span class=\"aQJ\">October 2, 2017 and March 1, 2018<\/span><\/span>\u00a0will be paid retroactively on\u00a0<span class=\"aBn\" tabindex=\"0\" data-term=\"goog_1565483137\"><span class=\"aQJ\">March 16, 2018<\/span><\/span>. \u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Extra Pay Stipend Payment Schedule &#8211; Letter Of Agreement<\/div>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><span style=\"font-family: georgia, serif; font-size: large;\">The Dearborn Board of Education (hereinafter referred to as the Board), and the Dearborn Federation of Teachers (hereinafter referred to as the Union), whereas the above mentioned parties agree as follows:<\/span><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><span style=\"font-family: georgia, serif; font-size: large;\">To increase accuracy and reduce the processing errors due to changes in staff assignments, <b><i>non-athletic extra pay assignment<\/i><\/b> stipends will be paid twice each year in January and June.<\/span><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><span style=\"font-family: georgia, serif; font-size: large;\">Since payments are generated via an auto-pay system frequent errors occurred.\u00a0 Following are examples of errors that have resulted in teachers not receiving the stipend and\/or teachers being required to repay the District after being paid inaccurately. \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><span style=\"font-family: georgia, serif; font-size: large;\">Teachers assigned to an extra pay position and going on FMLA or becoming an administrative intern. Schools submit this information to HR in the beginning of the year.\u00a0 However, HR does not always receive updated information as extra pay assignments unexpectedly change. <\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><span style=\"font-family: georgia, serif; font-size: large;\">Teachers and administrators have verbal agreements to split an assignment, but this isn\u2019t reflected on the stipend sheet submitted to HR. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><span style=\"font-family: georgia, serif; font-size: large;\">This agreement will apply until the expiration of the 2013-18 contract. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: georgia, serif; font-size: large;\"><b>Middle School Faculty Managers<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: georgia, serif; font-size: large;\">Athletic Directors at middle schools were an optional extra pay assignment during the 2016-17 school year. This option has been eliminated and replaced with a Faculty Manager, which is not an extra pay assignment option. Principals should give their staff an opportunity to apply directly to them. If positions are not filled by a building staff member, the position will be posted to the DFT via HR. See below for a description of the Faculty Manager position.
