{"id":6110,"date":"2020-10-23T11:40:52","date_gmt":"2020-10-23T15:40:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dearbornschools.org\/humanresourcesblog\/?page_id=6110"},"modified":"2022-04-14T14:19:54","modified_gmt":"2022-04-14T18:19:54","slug":"former-employees","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/dearbornschools.org\/humanresourcesblog\/former-employees\/","title":{"rendered":"Former Employees"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Guideline for Rehiring Former Employees<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong><span style=\"color:#005c54\" class=\"has-inline-color\">Scope For These Guidelines<\/span><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>These guidelines apply to former employees that separated&nbsp; employment with Dearborn Public Schools on a permanent basis. These guidelines do not refer to any employee who\u2019s on a leave of absence or has retired from the District.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong><span style=\"color:#005c54\" class=\"has-inline-color\">Eligibility for Rehire<\/span><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Former employees may apply to positions. But, it\u2019ll outline in which cases it can consider this employee for rehire.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To be considered for rehire, former employees should have left the employment with Dearborn Public Schools for the following reason:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>\u00a0Voluntary resignation<ul><li>These employees can apply for a position with Dearborn Public School&#8217;s after a minimum period of four [4] months. This excludes employees whose contracts expired. They can ask for a contract renewal immediately and we may consider them.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>Termination for reasons other than illegal or unethical behavior<ul><li>Employees who were terminated for reasons other than illegal or unethical behavior won\u2019t be considered for rehire for a period of three [3] years.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>Accepted a job offer but did not show up on their first day<ul><li>Employees who accepted a job but did not show up on their first day won\u2019t be considered for rehire for a period of three [3] years. This doesn\u2019t apply if they had serious reasons for not showing up (e.g. medical emergencies).<\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>If there are are acceptable reasons* why those employees should be rehired, the Executive Director of Staff and Student Service should first approve the decision.<br>*Acceptable reasons include but are not limited to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>\u00a0Reliable proof that employees\u2019 conduct will no longer be problematic. In this case,\u00a0 we do not guarantee rehiring but may consider it.<\/li><li>\u00a0Completed their probationary period when hired.\u00a0<\/li><li>Ranked \u201ceffective\u201d on their end of the year evaluation while employed by Dearborn Public Schools.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong><span style=\"color:#005c54\" class=\"has-inline-color\">\u00a0What Employees Are Ineligible For Rehire?<\/span>\u00a0<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Terminated for illegal or unethical behavior<\/li><li>Signed a release agreement<\/li><li>Worked as subs in Dearborn but were banned by the HR Department to sub in Dearborn Public Schools&nbsp;<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong><span style=\"color:#005c54\" class=\"has-inline-color\">Procedures for Rehiring<\/span><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>&nbsp;HR department will review personnel file to decide whether the employee is eligible for rehire.<\/li><li>All rehired employees are expected to undergo the new hire process.<\/li><\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Guideline for Rehiring Former Employees Scope For These Guidelines These guidelines apply to former employees that separated&nbsp; employment with Dearborn Public Schools on a permanent basis.
