SUMMARY:Wellness committee meeting
DESCRIPTION:Dearborn Public Schools will hold two committee meetings this school year as the district looks to assess and update its wellness policy. The public is welcome to attend. \nThe Wellness Committee will meet on Dec. 18\, 2025 and March 25\, 2026 at 2 p.m. in the Administrative Service Center.  The December meeting will be in room 8 and March will be in room 13. Those who would like to learn more can reach out to our Food Services Department at 313-827-3065. \nState rules call for schools to review their required wellness policies at least once every three years.  The committee will look at the district’s wellness policy\, see how that policy compares to model policies\, and look at how well the district has done in attaining policy’s goals.  \nThe current policy calls for initiatives such as ensuring the use of local fresh produce at school lunches\, not using food or drinks as student rewards\, students being taught the importance of physical activity\, not allowing ads for unhealthy snacks and food at school\, and more.
