Established in 2014, STEM Middle School is on the Dearborn Heights Campus. The school is for middle school students who are academically high performing and have an interest in science, math, technology, and engineering. STEM students are selected through an application and invitation process in the spring and are drawn from all of Dearborn’s elementary schools. We accept 60 students per grade for a total school population of 180 students and 10 teachers. We pride ourselves on offering a rigorous curriculum by focusing on Project Based Learning and teaching the 21st Century Skills. We are a school of choice, and parents must provide their own transportation to and from the campus each day. In its first five year, STEM was ranked #5 in the state by the Mackinac Center for Public Policy and #12 by the Detroit Free Press. It scores in the 99th percentile on the M-STEP results. STEM was named a 2018 National Blue Ribbon School for Academic Excellence – the only middle school in the state to receive this outstanding honor in 2018.
