School WebMaster Resources

Need help, support, or materials related to web publishing for Dearborn Public Schools?

The resources include district policy, discussion forums, and documents needed to publish websites in the district. It is BRAND NEW, so get in and start using the forums. I will be looking for questions and try to answer them in the forums.

BlackBoard

This "BlackBoard" site houses a variety of hand-outs and step sheets to help building webmasters to answer questions, or conduct their very own teacher web page "Contribute" inservice. Contact Denise Elliott for the username and password.

User-Friendly Teacher Web Pages:

  • Do not force the reader to scroll down very far

  • Use graphics to illustrate their message

  • Limit the animated graphics to a chosen few for emphasis only

  • Are current and up to date

  • Link only to pages with useful information

  • Do not actively link to pages under construction

  • Warn about PDF or MS Word format

  • Open PDF or MS Word in a new page

  • Open external links in a new page

  • Paste short articles on to a fast loading web page instead of linking to a document in PDF or Word

  • Make links to printable PDF versions of longer pages available
