Nada Fouani
Welcome to Becker Elementary School. My name is Nada Dakroub Fouani, Becker School Principal.
I came to this country in 1976 and attended Lowery School then Fordson and later Henry Ford Community College where I received an associate in Liberal Arts.
While attending Dearborn Public Schools, I gained the love and passion for education and decided to pursue a career in teaching with special focus on those children who come to this country with very limited English proficiency.
I attended University of Michigan and received a bachelor’s degree in elementary education and an early childhood endorsement. Later, I continued my education and earned a master’s degree in bilingual education at Wayne State University.
After 12 fulfilling years of teaching and learning in the Dearborn Schools, I became interested in administration and earned a specialist degree in administration from Wayne State University.
I served two years as assistant principal of Salina Elementary School, and then was promoted to the principalship of the new International Studies Academy where I developed a global education theme and a foreign languages curriculum. I enjoyed the challenges and excitement that came with being part of the opening of a new school.
For the last three years, I have been the new principal of Becker Elementary School and part of Becker’s fantastic family and communy. I continue to implement a foreign language theme at Becker with emphasis on global education. One of my goals is to also infuse technology in all classrooms and make sure that all students get a well-rounded education, are well prepared for the new century, and grow up understanding and respecting diversity and the universal cultures.
I am married to a wonderful man and teacher, Abe Fouani, and have three beautiful daughters, Suzi, Lena and Samar. All our daughters are into the education of children as well.
