The Strategic Plan Process
Teachers, principals, administrators, parents and community members gathered in late October of 2008 to start the first phase of establishing a new Strategic Plan for the district. The meeting focused on five non-negotiable goals set forth by Mr. Whiston, Superintendent, and his administrative team. In February of 2009 the four month process was complete and the Board of Education approved a new Strategic Plan for the district.
Listening to the input of those involved in the process two additional goals were added to the plan. Student Achievement; Resources; Community Involvement; Use of Data to Improve Student Performance and Communications; Celebration, Promise, Guarantee; Safe, Healthy, and Nurturing Educational Environment; and Advocacy and Legislation are the seven goals. During the process, the district’s beliefs, guiding principles and mission were revisited and modified to reflect the changes continually taking place in society. A vision statement along with objectives and parameters were identified as well. Currently, volunteers from all over the district are working on the Action Plans that will make each strategy a reality. Through these strategies and action plans the district’s vision will be realized.
