- Santa Hat Theme at Run on Sunday, May 3

On the field or in the classroom, Dearborn High, Edsel Ford, and Fordson (DEFF) are no strangers to fierce competition, but longtime rivals will stand together on Sunday, May 3, 2015 as Dearborn’s three public high schools host a 5K “Santa Hat” themed Unity Run.

This is the second annual unity run event sponsored by the Anti-Bullying, Peer to Peer and Diversity teams at the high schools.

The fun begins 9 a.m. at Ford Field Park in Dearborn, located one block north of Michigan Avenue at Morley and Monroe.

The schedule is as follows:
9:00 a.m. 1 mile run (elementary age students)
9:30 a.m. 2 mile run (middle school age students)
10:00 a.m. 1 mile walk (all are welcome)
10:30 a.m. 5K run (adults)
11:00 a.m. 5K run (high school age students)

Medals will be awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place female and male winners in the 1 mile, 2 mile and 5K races.

Santa will be dropping by and prizes will be awarded to the best dressed individual and team.

This race is open to students, staff and family members of Dearborn Public Schools and community members interested in supporting the work of the high schools students.

Registration fee is $10 for students, $20 for staff/adults, $35 for student teams of four, and $60 for adult teams of four (each person on a team must complete a registration form and submit together.)

Proceeds will fund the annual Dearborn Public Schools Student Leadership Diversity Summit and a scholarship for students involved in anti-bullying, social justice, peer to peer, and diversity awareness at each of Dearborn’s public high schools.

The high schools thank Unity Run sponsors Biker Bob’s Harley Davidson, Dearborn Education Foundation, Hype Athletics, La Pita, Pride Ink, and Yogurtown for their support of the event. A special thanks to the Dearborn Running Club for assisting with the planning and set-up of the course.
