IN SCHOOL SUSPENSION
Description:
The In-School Suspension (ISS) Program is designed to minimize the need for out-of-school suspensions. It is intended to provide constructive and positive learning experiences for students who have violated the Student Code of Conduct and, therefore, have been assigned ISS as part of a disciplinary process.
Under the supervision of the school administration and with support from the Department of Student Services, ISS technicians (ISS Room Monitors) supervise and guide students in completing classroom work as provided by each student’s classroom teacher for the duration of the suspension day.
In addition to working on school assignments, students may engage in learning activities that focus on identifying poor decisions and their consequences, as well as emphasizing the need to take responsibility for personal action and behavior, reinforcing the Core Values of the school district.
