FREE & REDUCED LUNCH APPEALS

Description:

School decides on eligibility from the application and documentation provided by the parent.

The Dearborn Public Schools serves nutritious meals and milk every full school day. If a doctor has determined that your child has a disability and the disability would prevent the child from eating the regular school meal, the school will make any substitutions prescribed by a doctor at no extra charge. For further information, please call your child's school. The doctor's statement, including prescribed diet and/or substitutions, must be submitted to the food service department at your school.

Students may be able to get meals free. If you now receive food stamps, Family Independence Program (FIP), or Food Distribution Program on Indian Reservation (FDPIR) benefits for your child, that child may receive free meals. If your total household income is the same or less than the amounts on the Income Chart, please apply for reduced price or free meals. A foster child may get free or reduced price meals even if your income is higher than that on the chart.

TO GET FREE OR REDUCED PRICE MEALS FOR YOUR CHILD, YOU MUST COMPLETE A FREE AND REDUCED LUNCH APPLICATION AND RETURN IT TO THE SCHOOL. APPLICATIONS CANNOT BE APPROVED IF NOT COMPLETED.
