The Human Resources Department provides support services for the Dearborn Public Schools. Primary functions of the staff in Human Resources include identifying and recruiting candidates for employment; interviewing employee candidates, and processing all personnel transactions including hiring, transfers, promotions, leaves, layoff and severance. The Human Resources Department acts as a resource for employees and administrators with questions regarding employee rights and responsibilities. The Director acts as chief negotiator in contract negotiations with all bargaining units and works closely with union representatives in contract administration. Our function is to ensure that the right people are in the right jobs with the right qualifications in accordance with applicable contractual agreements between the board of education and the various bargaining units.

We can help parents, community and students identify the appropriate person to assist them in meeting their needs. We are also available as a resource for individuals who are seeking employment or interested in a career in education or any of the support services areas that help to make Dearborn Public Schools a great place to learn and work.

Be a part of the learning experience

In the 1830's, a small one-room log cabin named Miller School was the humble beginning to the Dearborn Public Schools. Auto giant and legend Henry Ford attended the second building to be called Miller School. 170 years later a new Miller School provides students and teachers a modern facility with an environment designed for today's curriculum. Miller is just one of 29 Dearborn Schools that make up the 7th largest school district in the state. Our long history has created a strong and stable school district. Over the years, the Dearborn Schools has been recognized as a leader in educational programs, academic excellence, and athletic programs. We are proud of the success of our students and the staff who work to bring about that success.

More than 2,000 instructional and non-instructional staff members work toward a common goal, the education of children. Whether the work is instructional, skilled trades, secretarial, transportation, food services, business and finance, or administration it all plays a role in helping students learn. Meeting the daily needs of over 17,000 students requires the latest technology, the best and most up-to-date equipment, and our most important asset, a dedicated work force. Dearborn School employees care about our schools and our community.

Dearborn is home to Greenfield Village, one of the largest tourist attractions in the state, a major shopping mall; is world headquarters for Ford Motor Company, and has great neighborhoods throughout the city. If you would like to be part of our community view the employment opportunities that are currently being offered by the Dearborn Public Schools.
