Adult & Community Education has been an integral part of the Dearborn School District for over 80 years. Through its three departments, Adult Education, Community Education and Early Childhood, it provides educational and enrichment opportunities to all facets and generations of the community.

Adult Education:
The Adult Education Department provides adults with an opportunity to improve their basic academic skills, take GED preparation classes, or get a high school diploma. Its ESL classes provide English literacy and civic education to adults from other countries and ethnic backgrounds so that they can learn to function successfully in American society. Career Education classes prepare adults for a career in the medical and nursing fields.
Adult Education also provides high school students the opportunity to take classes needed to earn credit for graduation through its After-School-Academic-Program (ASAP).
Community Education:
Community Education is focused on providing enrichment opportunities to all members of the community, ranging from preschool to senior citizens. Many different courses of enrichment are available, such as: recreation, personal development, business and career classes, computer classes, arts and crafts, and camps for children of all ages. The goal of Community Education is to provide the community with after-school, evening, and weekend activities conveniently located in their neighborhood schools.
Early Childhood:
The Early Childhood Department offers a variety of enriching and educational programs for children. The Developmental Preschool Program has offered our community one of the finest educationally based, developmentally appropriate program for over two decades. Our newest preschool program, Montessori Preschool, is an academic program that educates the whole child; socially, emotionally, physically and intellectually. The Montessori Method is followed in this program. The teacher is the facilitator, and the child is the active learner. Childcare programs are offered for children from 3 years old to school-age. All Day Preschool Childcare programs are available at three schools. The Kinder-Club programs offers care for children in kindergarten, before and after their school day. The Kid’s Club program offers an environment for children ages 5 to 15 where they can complete homework, engage in arts and crafts or play learning games before and after school. The “neighborhood” environment includes sewing, outdoor play, projects, brainteasers and gym activities. Wee Scholars and Toddler Time Montessori programs are for the toddler and parent together. Our goal is to provide early childhood programs that offer the community a variety of choices to meet the needs of their family.
