Pending Board of Education approval at the June 13 meeting Dr. Jill Chochol will become the new Associate Superintendent for Elementary Education. Dr. Chochol is currently Principal of Whitmore-Bolles Elementary and has thirty years of service in the field of education and reading.
"This was a very difficult decision because we had several quality internal and external candidates," commented Dearborn Superintendent, Mr. Brian Whiston.
Dozens of applications were reviewed by Human Resources and nine candidates, three internal and six external, were finally selected for interviews. An interview team of fourteen, made up of parents, teachers, and administrators, conducted the interviews.
Dr. Chochol has been Principal at Whitmore-Bolles for three years and worked for the Michigan Department of Education for six years prior to joining the staff in Dearborn. Starting her career in education as a teacher for the Detroit Public Schools, Dr. Chochol has held key positions as an instructional leader including a university instructor.
"I want to thank Dr. Chochol for all her great work and outstanding leadership at Whitmore-Bolles. Her new position will allow her to share her talents will all elementary schools in the district," Whiston added.
Dr. Chochol will move to her new position on July 1, taking over for Ms. Norma Jean Sass who is retiring at the end of July. The search for a new Principal at Whitmore-Bolles will begin immediately. Parents and staff will take part in the final interview process.
The district also announces that beginning in the fall of 2011 Ms. Rita Rauch, Principal at McCollough/Unis, will move to Nowlin Elementary, and Mr. Majed Fadlallah, Principal at Salina Intermediate, will take over at Woodworth. Other changes will be announced as they are decided by the Superintendent and Board of Education.
