| “Tough economic times.” Very sadly the phrase has become almost cliché here in Michigan. There isn’t a community in our state that hasn’t felt the impact of the current economy. We all have family, friends, and neighbors who have lost their jobs. Those that have jobs are cutting back, saving more, and spending less. Less spending equals lower tax revenue for Michigan and in our state, funding for education is directly tied to revenue generated from the tax on the purchase of goods.
