The district used two different methods to collect MVOC information:

A hand held MVOC meter

Air sampling and laboratory analysis of the collected samples which is more precise but takes longer

Both of these methods were used in March and June. Also, a variety of other tests were done at this time. All results that needed further evaluation were sent to a laboratory.

On Sunday, August 21, 2005 T.E.C. did a hand held test at Bryant Middle School so there would be data available to the public before the start of school. It is important to note that although the hand held testing may have a percentage of error vs. the lab results, hand held readings taken during the March and June test mirrored the lab results. Also, even given some small margin of error, the results of the August 21 testing showed nearly 94% less then previous results.

The Bryant Indoor Air Quality Committee would like to note that tests conducted in June to measure the level of MVOC’s were done under different conditions then test done in August. Although these two sets of data are not directly comparable each offers a unique analysis of the level of MVOC’s in the building.
